Is Roomtone a subscription?
No. Roomtone is a one-time $29 purchase with lifetime free updates. Every update since launch, including new amp models, presets, and effects, has been free for existing owners. There is no subscription, no iLok, and no activation server. You buy it, you download it, it is yours.
What DAWs does it work with?
Logic Pro, Ableton Live, FL Studio, Studio One, Reaper, Cubase, and GarageBand, as a VST3 or AU plugin. There is also a Standalone app that runs without any DAW at all. Pro Tools is not supported because it requires the AAX format.
Is there a free trial or demo?
Not currently. Every preset demo on this page is recorded straight from the plugin, so what you hear is exactly what you get, and you can browse the full preset library before buying. If it does not work out, there is a 14-day refund policy.
Do I need a real amp, mic, or pedals?
No. Plug your guitar into any audio interface and Roomtone handles the amp, cabinet, mic, and effects chain in software. The Standalone app works without a DAW, so you can practice with just an interface and headphones.
What are the system requirements?
Mac: macOS 11 or later, universal binary for Intel and Apple Silicon, in VST3, AU, and Standalone formats. Windows: Windows 10 or later, 64-bit, in VST3 and Standalone formats. Roomtone is light on CPU and runs comfortably on laptops.
Can it do heavier tones, or is it only for indie?
The 19 amp models run from pristine cleans through classic crunch to modern high gain, with 485 presets across 25 genre categories including shoegaze, midwest emo, post-punk, classic rock, and heavier high-gain styles. It leans indie because that is what we love, but it is a full amp sim.
